Newly licensed agents receive their real estate broker license on “Provisional” status. Three 30-hour ”Postlicensing” courses must be completed within three years of receiving your real estate license.* If all 3 Postlicensing courses are not completed within this 3 year period, your license will be cancelled!

*Your license issuance date is NOT the same as the end of the Real Estate Commission’s “license year” (June 30). You can find your license issuance date on your license (not your pocket card) or call the Real Estate Commission at 919-875-3700.
The prerequisite for enrollment in a Postlicensing course is possession of a current North Carolina broker license on Provisional status. Although the Real Estate Commission recommends taking the courses in the order as they are described below, you are not required to do so. The current textbook is the 2008/2009 North Carolina Real Estate Manual and is required of all students. They are available for sale at the school or you may borrow one from someone.
Relationships & Responsibilities:
A review of agency relationships in real estate transactions and a real estate agent’s legal duties to clients and customers, a step-by-step review and discussion of the functions and responsibilities of a real estate agent when working with residential sellers and buyers, a review of issues associated with agent compensation and agents changing firms, and a review of license status and education issues. 30 hours.
Selected basic contract law concepts, real estate sales contract preparation, sales contract procedures, closing procedures and closing statement preparation, and real estate license status and education issues. 30 hours.
Commercial real estate brokerage, residential property management, land use controls, loan fraud, license law issues and case studies, fair housing, establishing a brokerage firm, and manufactured and modular homes. 30 hours.
